FAQs:
Q: What am I allowed to store?
A: Most items are allowed, including but not limited to furniture, documents, vehicles and others. We do not permit tenants to store food, flammable items, tires, or any hazardous or illegal materials.
Q: How long is my lease?
A: All of our leases are month to month.
Q: During what times can I access my storage unit?
A: Our security gates allow access 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You will be assigned a pass code after you sign your lease. We reserve the right from time to time to disable the gate system to perform routine maintenance, make repairs, upgrade or update the computer or gate system or for other reasonable purposes.
Q: Do I need to use a special lock?
A: No, there are several types of locks that are suitable for self storage doors. You are required to use your own lock. If you do not have one, you can purchase one in our office
Q: Are my items insured?
A: No. Like most storage facilities we don’t insure your property. We have inexpensive insurance available for purchase in the office.
Q: What sizes are available?
A: 3x4, 5x5, 5x7, 6x8, 5x10, 5x15, 10x10, 10x15, 12x12, 12x16, 12x20 and 12x25 (see the Sizes webpage for details!)
Q: Do you accept deliveries?
A: Yes. If you decide to take deliveries, we require you to have a key made for us.
Q: Do you take credit cards?
A: Yes. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
Q: How do I pay my rent?
A: You have several options. We accept major credit cards, money orders, checks and cash. You can elect to have automatic billing, where your credit card is automatically billed each month. You can mail payment to Badger Self Storage, 4302 Commercial Ave, Madison WI, 53714, you can drop off your payment during office hours or you can leave your payment in an envelope in our drop box 24 hours a day. If you deliver your payment to our drop box, make sure you write your name and unit number on your payment, so that we give you credit for paying!!
Q: Do I have to give notice when I move out?
A: Yes. Your lease requires written notice of intent to vacate seven (7) days prior to move out. If you fail to give notice, you may be charged additional rent and/or late fees.
Q: Who can enter my unit?
A: Generally, only you can enter your unit. You can elect to permit additional individuals by giving us written permission at the time when you sign your lease. We must give you three (3) days written notice to enter your unit. The exceptions to this rule are: in the event of an actual or suspected emergency, to comply with government officials orders (i.e. police, fire fighters, etc.), and if your lease in default.
Q: Do you sell packing supplies?
A: Yes. In addition to stocking locks, we stock mattress covers, boxes, packing tape, and many other moving and storage supplies
Q: Do you use any pest control?
A: Yes. We use professional pest control companies, however they do not have access to your unit. To minimize the chance of having a pest in your unit, you should avoid storing food items.
